A History of the Jews
at KG St. Germain
Frank Weisebron, friend and sympathiser of Kehilat Gesher, has been impassioned by Jewish History for years. Once a month, Frank wants to share that passion with those who have always wanted to have a better sense of the story of our People.
1½ hour monthly sessions will revolve around the followings themes:
- Genesis and the Patriarchs
- Exodus and Moses
- Kings and the First Temple
- Babylon
- Jesus of Nazareth and the events around the beginning of CE
- Jews in the middle ages
- Shoah
- Herzl and the State of Israel
Jewish history doesn't focus on power or empires. It is a history of something far more profound yet much more subtle; embedded behind events is an unfolding drama of a destiny being fulfilled. We learn Jewish history not only to avoid the mistakes of the past, but to understand it has shaped us - and is continuing to shape us. When we look at the history through the lens of Judaism, we see things in a totally different way. It doesn't change the events; it only changes how we understand the events.
First session is on November 30th at 20h30 (taught in either English or French depending upon those who attend).
