A New Home for Our Community!
Remodeling work is ongoing at our new site, near Porte de Champerret in the 17th arrondissement, only a few minutes from the Louise Michel and Porte de Champerret Métro stations.
A spacious community center
- A 150-square-meter sanctuary
- A high-tech, secure entrance
- Four (or more) classrooms
- A kiddush space, with kitchen
- Administrative offices
- A library
- A screening room
- And a comfortable office for Rabbi Tom!
The heart of the sanctuary in Kehilat Gesher’s new home is now officially beating. A magnificent ark, holding the community’s Torah scrolls, presides over the bimah, or stage, where Rabbi Tom Cohen currently leads limited shabbat services while Covid restrictions remain in place. A stunning mix of olive burl wood and hammered brass, the ark was designed by Bruno Quijano, one of the architects behind the renovations inside Kehilat Gesher’s new home.
New flooring, new lighting, new everything for our new sanctuary/multipurpose room. This vast, light-filled space will have modular walls, making it possible to expand the adjoining sanctuary for large events, or to divide the area into classrooms.
Families will feel safe knowing that KG is building a secure, high-tech entrance. B’nai mitzvahs and newlyweds will no longer need to edit their guest list, as our light-filled sanctuary is five times the size of our current space. What’s more, there’s a parking lot across the street!
After years of effort, our community will soon have a new home, a place to explore what it means to be Jewish in the modern world, a place where we can invite families and friends to become part of our growing congregation. Our new community center will help make Kehilat Gesher a beacon of liberal Judaism in France.
While we have secured a certain amount of financing, we still need your support, both moral and financial.
All contributions, no matter the amount, are deeply appreciated!
Rabbi Tom hard at work!
